Abstract
Induced magnetic and electric fields in MHD channels with nonconducting walls at constant flow velocity are investigated theoretically. The initial approximate equations are validated, the transition to two-dimensional problems is discussed, and results of an analytical and a numerical solution of some problems of the type discussed are outlined. The calculations are compared with experimental data obtained in the flow of ionized gas through a channel of rectangular cross section and in the flow of liquid metal through a round tube, at magnetic Reynolds numbers up to 20.
