Efficiency of an induction MHD generator with conductivity waves
S. S. Katsnel'son
Abstract
The values of the vector potential, magnetic and electric fields, and current in the working circuit of an induction MHD generator were found in an approximation of small Rm and Ru ≈ 1. The motion of the undisturbed gas now in the channel was assigned a constant radial velocity and traveling electrical conductivity wave. The variational problem of finding the maximum value of the electrical efficiency as a function of the parameters and geometry of the electrical (working) circuit was solved numerically on a computer. The calculation results agree with the experimental data in the literature.
