Abstract
To explain the nonmonotonic dependence of the energy of turbulent pulses of the longitudinal component of the velocity on the magnetic field in circular flow, which was obtained previously using a narrow thermoanemometer probe, similar measurements were made using a wide probe which does not perturb the flow. When a wide probe is used, the pulsations fall monotonically to the level of the background as the magnetic field is increased. Hence, the anomalous nature of the dependence obtained previously is in fact connected with the collapse of Karman vortices from the foot of the narrow probe, while laminar flow is achieved when the flow is strongly perturbed as the magnetic field is increased.
