Abstract
Energy-balance equations are derived for a turbulent velocity field and a fluctuating magnetic field. The physical meaning of the individual terms of the equations is analyzed and a diagramming technique is devised graphically illustrating the energy exchange between the individual components of the velocity fluctuations and the magnetic field, as well as the dissipation of energy in the form of heat in the suppression of MHD turbulence. The energy-balance equations make it possible to ascertain the physical meaning of the hypotheses used in analyzing the suppression process and so to assess the reliability of the results obtained on the basis thereof.
