Effect of the compressibility of the fluid on the dynamic characteristics of electromagnetic flow meters

G. G. Gurevich - V. A. Timofeev

Abstract
An analysis is made of the effect of the compressibility of the fluid on the characteristics of a conductive-type electromagnetic instrument for measuring an unsteady flow. It is shown here that the requirement of a wider frequency range conflicts with the requirement of a smaller error due to the nonuniform velocity distribution. Recommendations are made regarding a transducer design which would improve the dynamic characteristics of the flow meter. The frequency characteristics of a two-channel flow meter with a time-staggered signal are also shown here.
