Steady-state MHD flow in a closed circular pipe associated with wave propagation
M. Ya. Antimirov
Abstract
The flow of a conducting fluid in a circular pipe with nonconducting wells is investigated. The ends of the pipe are closed by thin films transparent to waves. A circular beam ofwaves, the radius of which is less than the radius of the pipe, is incident continuously on one of the ends. This beam creates axial flow in the neighborhood of the axis of the pipe and oppositely directed flow in the neighborhood of the pipe walls because of the closure of the flow. A solution of the system of equations describing the problem is obtained in the form of a Bessel-function series. Asymptotic representations of the solution are obtained for small and large Hartmann numbers. Magnitnaya Gidrodinamika 11, No. 3, 53-57, 1975 [PDF] (in Russian)
