Abstract
The effect of a sinusoidal magnetic fluid coating on the heat transfer and the flow struclure in a flat channel has been studied experamentally. The heat transfer intensity has increased twice when the lower wall of the channel is covered with a layer of a poorly viscous magnetic fluid (the medium and the magnetic fluid viscosity ratio was η1/η2=16.8) and a simultaneous decrease of hydraulic drag of the channel was observed. The dependence of heat transfer intensification coefficient on the viscosity ratio η1/η2, and geometrical parameters of the coating (wavelength A and mean depth s) has been investigated.
