Dynamics of a magnetic fluid emulsion phase in the field of a permanent magnet

Abstract
The results of an experimental study of structuring processes of magnetic fluid drops in non-magnetic liquid medium in the presence of an external magnetic field are presented. The ratio of the dipole-dipole force and of the viscous one has been considered as the time-criterion of formation of chain structures of these drops. We studied the behaviour of the structures and drops at large gradient of magnetic field The condilions for the most effective use of magnetic fluid emulsion as a controlling medium in an external magnetic field of permanent magnets have been determined.
