Abstract
A 2D lumped-parameter model is described; the model allows one to carry out an analysis of the processes in a channel of an MHD conduction pump with a superconducting magnet. The model is derived directly from a 3D one under development by the authors, The results obtained by means of the latter are also presented, and a comparison between the results furnished by both models is made. The closeness of the results is demonstrated, as well as the circumstance that the 2D model requires much less effort and computational resources, and is very reliable in operation. Therefore, the 2D model serves for a preliminary analysis of the pump performance well and can be suitably used together with the more sophisticated 3D model for (he pump optimization.
