Abstract
The paper continues the investigation of the steady magnetic field (SMF) action on a flow induced by a rotating magnetic field (RMF) in a cylindrical vessel [1]. Characteristic velocity values of azimuthal and meridional flows were found for the case of finite end-walls conductivity. Scalings of these velocities were obtained in a boundary layer near a side wall, too. 2D numerical calculations proved the above scalings and showed that in a strong SMF the distribution of an azimuthal flow is similar to that of a channel flow, but the meridional flow is "propelled" to the vessel s side wall. The SMF action of flow oscillations developing in a rather strong RMF were investigated. It was found out that application of a SMF allows to obtain a stationary but strong flow. Figs 6, refs 4.
