Abstract
The subsurface phenomena and the splashing for impacts of magnetic liquid drop against kerosene with or without the applied magnetic fields were investigated experimentally. The results are summarized as follows. (i) The compound Rayleigh jet is formed during the splash of a magnetic drop on kerosene under nonmagnetic field. (ii) The subsurface phenomena and the splashing of magnetic fluid drops depend on the magnetization of magnetic liquid. In the case of the higher magnetized drops, the size of the subsurface cavity is very small, and the splashing is scarcely observed. (iii) the bubbles made of thin magnetic fluid film are formed in the target liquid at a certain value of mass concentration in magnetic fluid. Figs 11, refs 7.
