Abstract
The production of secondary aluminium from melting aluminium scrap is about 50\% of the world aluminium production and has a tendency to grow. It requires only 5\% of the power consumed by the primary Al reduction process to produce the same amount of the metal [1]. The melt stirring at the production of secondary aluminium and aluminium alloys significantly (by about 50\%) enhances the technological process efficiency. The use of electromagnetic (magnetohydrodynamic (MHD)) stirrers for metallurgical refractory aluminium melting furnaces is a traditional and at the same time topical nowadays problem of applied magnetohydrodynamics.
