Abstract
A statistical theory of MHD turbulence is presented. The approach is based on the formulation of an inverse kinetic theory (IKT) for the full set of MHD equations appropriate for an incompressible, viscous, quasi-neutral, isentropic, isothermal and resistive magnetofluid. The theory permits in principle the rigorous determination of the local (1-point) PDF for a turbulent fluid. This is achieved by introducing a suitable ėxtit{inverse kinetic equation} defined in such a way that it satisfies exactly the required complete set of fluid equations. As a consequence, it permits the determination of the correct evolution equation for the probability density. The formulation here presented concerns the case of statistically homogeneous and stationary MHD turbulence. Refs 30.
