Abstract
In this article, we continue to acquaint the readers of the ``Magnetohydrodynamics" with the target for Swiss Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ) development: the pilot lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) target, involving two electromagnetic pumps (EMP), had been designed, fabricated and successfully tested during 17 weeks with the proton beam in the framework of the MEGAPIE project (see [3]). Today we are developing a target for routine operation in the SINQ (LIMETS). The LIMETS is designed for 3 years service-life; it has to be simpler and cheaper; the level of safety must be very high, comparable with the solid target operating in SINQ today. The results of our concept study on the electromagnetic pump for the new target are discussed in the article. Tables 2, Figs 3, Refs 8.
