Abstract
The characteristics of the inner structure of a magnetic fluid under high pressure were investigated experimentally. Experiments were conducted by using two different magnetic fields (200 and 400 mT) and various pressures (0--1.5 MPa). The ultrasonic propagation time was measured and the ultrasonic propagation velocity was calculated. The ultrasonic propagation velocity changed with the application of magnetic fields and pressure. The change was related to cluster formation in the MF. Based on the experimental results, the effect of pressure on the inner structure in the MF was analyzed. Figs 5, Refs 5.
