Abstract
The goal of this paper is theoretical and experimental investigation of MHD effects on the behaviour of thin (100 μm) liquid metal film flow under realistic conditions of the low-power tokomak reactor. Theoretical calculations for lithium and InGaSn eutectic show a strong influence of the magnetic field as well as that of the angle of substrate inclination on pressure losses, velocity and thickness of the film flow. Conditions necessary for the development of a smooth and controllable flow have been determined and analyzed. Experimental data obtained using a setup with the superconducting magnet ``Magdalena'' correspond to theoretical aspects of the subject. Tables 3, Figs 4, Refs 10.
