Abstract

The Russian MHD conference was initiated and held at the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Perm, Russia) in June 2012 as a first step towards the revival of the Russian MHD Community consolidated on the basis of scientific meetings covering all branches of magnetohydrodynamics. Encouraged by the success of that first Conference, the organizers and participants have come to a decision that conferences should be held on a regular basis.

The Second Russian Conference on Magnetohydrodynamics (RMHD-2015), which was again held at the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics (Perm, Russia) in June 2015, has become a new successful step in this direction. The Conference was attended by about 150 scientists from the Russian leading research institutions as well as from the scientific centers of Germany, Latvia, Israel, Great Britain, Austria, and the United States. The success of the two RMHD Conferences has become an added reason for scheduling the next RMHD meeting for June 2018.
