Abstract
Nowadays it is well-known that there are magnetic fields in some spiral galaxies. Their generation is described by a dynamo mechanism based on differential rotation and by the alpha-effect characterizing turbulent motions of the interstellar medium. Several galaxies have the so-called outer rings located at some distance from the main part of the galaxy. Typical processes in the outer rings are nearly the same, so we can suppose magnetic fields there. Here we discuss possible magnetic fields in the outer rings described by dynamo models. We also study the opportunity of supporting the turbulent motions in the outer rings by the magnetic fields in the simplest case. Figs 7, Refs 12.
