Abstract
To achieve better efficiency at transporting liquid metals in metallurgical processes, closed channels in combination with contactless liquid metal pumps can be used. In this paper, we show how magnetic rods, magnetized perpendicular to their axes, can be used for liquid metal pumping. We examine the arrangement of permanent magnet cylinders allowing to achieve the strongest pumping action along with considering mechanical constraints. Figs 6, Refs 7.
