A prototype electromagnetic apparatus for treating flowing liquid metal

Abstract
A description is given of an apparatus for treating a liquid metal with finely divided reagents. It is found that treatment of cast iron with lime up to 10 kg/ton removes 20-40% of the sulfur. Treatment with 75% lime +25% soda at 2 kg/ton removes 35-42% of the sulfur.
