Abstract
Ferrofluids are used already for force intensification in several systems, for example pumping systems. In this paper a proposal is presented to enlarge the torque in electric machines by filling the gap between rotor and stator with a ferrofluid. To estimate the significance of the effect, some process models are given and first results are explained. The influence of friction caused by the fluid is included. Tables 1, Figs 6, Refs 8.
