PREFACEThe present special issue of the Magnetohydrodynamics Journal is a selection of papers presented at the 5th International Conference on Mathematical Sciences and Statistics (ICMSS2024). The Special Issue from ICMSS2024 covers developments in the field of basic and applied mathematical research on heat and mass transfer phenomena in magnetohydrodynamic and electromagnetohydrodynamic fluid flow. ICMSS2024 was held in September 24--25, 2024 at the Palm Garden Hotel, Putrajaya, Malaysia. This distinguished event returns as a physical gathering in 2024, following a successful virtual conference in 2022, and was centered around the theme “Unleashing the Innovative Potential of Mathematics and Statistics”. Having made its debut in 2013, ICMSS2024 is organized by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia. With a noble objective of promoting intellectual growth, this conference serves as an ideal platform for the convergence of academicians, researchers, and industry experts. It is designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, research findings, and spirited discussions pertaining to mathematics, statistics, and their wide-ranging applications. ICMSS2024 stands tall on three fundamental objectives: showcasing the latest discoveries in the realm of mathematics and statistics, fostering knowledge sharing among experts from academia and industries, and nurturing potential collaborations among the distinguished participants. The organizing committee warmly welcomes all delegates to engage in profound deliberations encompassing the diverse aspects of the conference themes and sub-themes.
